JARED

Jared’s Martial Arts journey started over a decade ago. And it was after his studies and return from the States in 2016 that he has since dedicated all his time and effort into the sweet science of boxing.

A keen and fast learner, Jared started competing regularly only after a year into his boxing journey, racking up over 10 fights in the span of a year. In the process, not only did he become the national amateur champion, he also started his coaching career here at The Ring.

You should expect a balanced session that is both technical and physical where Jared will share his insights that allowed him to progress so rapidly in this sport – train hard, train smarter! Most importantly, expect a fun time!

ABDOU

An undefeated professional boxer from Corsica, a Mediterranean Island southeast of France. Abdelelah Karroum (better known as Abdou) is the current WBC Asia Silver Champion and was a former fighter on Monaco’s National Boxing Team. Abdou trained under a former Cuban national team coach throughout his amateur career.
During his days as an amateur fighter, his most memorable experience was training in Cuba with their national team. He was inspired by the Cuban boxing mindset, training style and boxing principles. He has trained together with a handful of world champions including Andy Lee, Ryan Burnett and Luis Ortiz, to name a few. He is deeply passionate and dedicated in the sport of boxing

Abdou is dedicated to perfecting the art of boxing, and strives to share his passion and knowledge of the sport with others.

CHRISTIAN

A life long boxing fan, Christian has been involved in health and fitness throughout his life, having competed at international level in both Martial Arts and Rugby. Christian combines his wealth of fitness experience with his passion for boxing and his unique style of teaching to ensure boxer of all levels continue to elevate their game.

HAMZAH

Current WBC Asia Intercontinental Champion, Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation Champion and former 3-time Singapore National Champion. Boxing Coach at The Ring Boxing Community and a Professional Boxer, Hamzah Farouk has never looked out for anything that is impossible. Anything is possible! Boxing is truly his passion, so by sharing all his knowledge in Boxing, training is always a win for everybody.

VERNON

Combat sports has always been on the top of Vernon’s list of favourite things to do. Aside from that, he is also an extreme sports junkie. Despite being overweight when he was young, he was extremely active and enjoyed jumping around, which attributed to his weight loss. As an avid fan of Kungfu movies, Vernon felt the desire to be equipped with self-defence skills, and has not looked back since. Together with his two brothers, they worked and trained hard together after school, sharpening their techniques and learning the foundation of combat sports. His hard work paid off when he was selected to represent Singapore on the international stage. During his offseason, Vernon can be spotting eating or jumping around the gym.

SAFEEL

Growing up, Safeel was always fascinated by the wonders of the brain, and could never stay still. In the day, Safeel is training to be a counselling psychologist, but continues with his passion for boxing by night as a boxing instructor. After taking on different team sports, Safeel finally found his love for combat sports. Being fully dedicated to boxing for close to 4 years now, he was always in awe of the intricate technicalities and is eager to absorb more from the realm of combat sports. Learning is the essence of instructing, and he loves equipping new techniques to share with his peers and clients. As one that easily gets bored, the style of his classes are always dynamic, to offer different challenges and opportunities for members.

JAY

Jay-Hykel is currently a national representative of rugby for Singapore. He started playing when he was just 8 years old, and has represented the country in numerous events over the last 8 years. Fitness has always been a big part of his life, and to him, it is a lifestyle. He is keen on helping and educating anyone, old or young, on getting starting or pursuing certain fitness goals. It doesn’t matter where or when you start, as long as you do! Sore today, strong tomorrow.

ANGUS

Angus has been in love with martial arts for over half a decade. He was entranced by the depth and beauty of the sport. Ever since, he has dedicated himself fervently to the sport. Always learning, studying and training in the art of Muay Thai and Boxing. He is actively competing in Muay Thai and Boxing tournaments, clinching the gold medal in SABA National Boxing Championship 2019. He is a highly technical trainer, emphasising on the intricacies of techniques. If you are trying to bring your game to the next level, he will help you polish your skills. If he is not punching and kicking, Angus may be spotted playing video games or watching movies.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai, also known as the art of the eight limbs, is a super-intense kickboxing, combat style sport that improves your balance, coordination and flexibility.

ARIFF

Ariff started boxing at the age of 16, and has advanced to compete both locally and internationally in various tournaments. He also has professional certifications, and judges locally for various professional fight events. He ventured into coaching in the fitness industry over a year ago, and hope that he can impart his experience and judgement in boxing through coaching passionate individuals.

LORENZO

Coming from Cuba, Lorenzo was first an avid soccer player, growing up in the south of France, and slowly transitioned to boxing at the age of 17. It became a sport he soon being passionate about, and has an amateur fight record of 17 fights, with 13 wins and 2 draws. He recently made his Professional boxing debut at TRFC, and won his first major fight. During his free time, Lorenzo enjoys other sports like soccer or basketball, as well as listening to music and hanging out with his friends.

SAKINAH

I fell in love with boxing because it is an individual sport. It allows me to train at my own time and pace, and is a place of freedom for me. I love the intensity and adrenaline boxing provides. Especially during my trainings at Kim Yam, I was able to experience the friendship and support a sport like boxing provides, from all the tips and concern provided by the coaches. This translated to my love in coaching and helping others. I love the energy during classes, witnessing the members enjoying and having fun is the reason why I love being a coach at The Ring.

HAIKAL

Haikal is an accredited Strength and Conditioning coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association. He has an extensive background from training national, professional and amateur athletes to working adults with nominal experience in fitness. Haikal approaches fitness as a life-long behaviour modification where we seek continuous improvement. He defines his sessions as simple, challenging, and efficient with an emphasis on proper form and mobility. His favourite client is anyone with a goal and a willingness to work towards it!

ANDRE

Most know him as Coach Dre, a nickname that was given to him from his first fight. Andre’s Muay Thai journey started 15 years ago when he was awestruck by a movie “Ongbak”. Through the influence of his friends, who invited him to join them for training, Dre fell in love with the combat sports and has learned a total of 5 different types of martial arts ever since. In his journey as a martial artist, he has learned not to compare or condemn others and to always be ready for any challenges.

NIGEL

Nigel has been a fan of Muay Thai since his teens, starting at the age of 14. He has accumulated a total of 6 amateur fights (5W-1L) over the years. Besides Muay Thai, he is also training with the National Kickboxing Team. Nigel decided to become a Muay Thai coach because he views it as a platform that drills individuals to take control of their own actions and overcome obstacles faced, both in training and in life. Aside from coaching at The Ring, Nigel enjoys acquiring new skills online and spending quality time with his family.

SYAKIR

With over 6 years of experience in the fitness industry, Syakir has been actively training his brother, Hamzah, for his boxing fights. He was thrilled when his efforts paid off when Hamzah won the title of WBC Asian Continental Champion. Other than coaching at The Ring, he runs a bridging training for all of The Ring’s Professional and Amateur Fight Team.
